Not a big fan of small cars in general but this thing was a hoot. Loud exhaust and a decently tight transmission. The ride was certainly firm on city streets (I hit the bump stops over one of the worse bumps) but very manageable.

I'm going to be shopping for a replacement for my '06 WRX in a few months, and even though I have the urge to get something different sometimes, I keep drifting back to the new STI. It's just too damn useful to ignore.

Even though some people say it looks like hell, it also goes like hell, turns like hell, and does it in all weather conditions.

Yeah I now get why people buy them. Not my cup of tea but respect.

Other than the boy-racer looks, the only complaint I hear about them is MPGs. I get 26 combined out of my modified WRX, and though the STI can't get those numbers, I have a buddy with an '08 STI and he gets about 23 combined. We drive pretty responsibly, though.

I can't really complain about either of those numbers for an AWD performance car.

The best part about owning a WRX or STI is winter. I miss my WRX now, even though it's just turning to summer.

Pretty much NOTHING but highway miles. I'm not sure how he manages that figure, but I get a lot of the same questions about my 26 MPG on the wrex as well. My mileage actually went up when I started using the Cobb AP, as it was around 22-23 before.

I just have stage 2 map stuff (turboback), but he just runs stock on stage 1 in the STI, I believe.

Prior to my STI, I had a stage 2 02 WRX wagon using the OTS Cobb map. I got 26 all day in that.

I run a stage 2 pro tune on my STI - but then again I guess its all about smiles per gallon, right?

You've got that right. I'm sure that mileage sacrifice is worth it. I'm looking forward to dealing with that "problem" soon.
